This section contains information on State, Regional, and Local Zoning, Beekeeping Laws and Regulations. Current News! Spokane County Planning Commission held a hearing on April 15th, 2010 regarding a proposed amendment to the county zoning code. The recommendation of the commission was to table indefinitely the proposed amendment, and to work with local beekeepers to draft a comprehensive code for Spokane county. Read more about it here. And tell us your thoughts. For residents of Spokane County living in areas that are in the Residential Zones, as listed in Chapter 15.604.210, beekeeping is not an allowed use. A copy of the Urban Residential zoning code is provided below. Currently it is a permitted use only in Rural Zones, and as a limited on Resource Lands. The object of this meeting is to limit the activity of beekeeping activities on Rural Zoned properties in the County of Spokane. In the City of Spokane, Beekeeping IS ALLOWED as an accessory use on single-family residence lots. View the Ciity of Spokane Beekeeping Ordinance can be found here. The City of Spokane Valley municipal code provides an even broader use for beekeeping - allowing up to 25 hives on a residential lot.
